KIAMESHA - Monticello NY (Yahoo Group)
« on: July 30, 2005, 09:48:18 AM »
Hi all,

I worked at the Concord Hotel in the early 1980s. I worked in the dining room for two years.

Steamboat, was the matre'd, and Charles was my trainer. The rest I dont recall.

I drove by the concord twice, both in the winter months, hard to believe it in such a shape today. I was amazed to see it the way it is.

I'd do anything to get an inside tour of the place today, but I don't have the option to travel as often, since I work overseas today.

Anyway, I have created several yahoo groups, dedicated to the sullivan and ulster county areas, both of the borscht belt hotel eras, and the locals too.

Joins us, find the links below, have over 1000 photos all together.

Cheers,
Kato

Sadly they ripped the Concord apart. Its nothing but a concrete shell now.A little over a year ago there was still much to see.
Last I went the only thing that had contents inside were the houses on the property.
Does anyone know mainly what they were used for? Some look like staff houses, others look like they were once someones home.

The two houses near the front were where the owners family lived - one is still used as an office, the other one is rotting away and filled with all sorts of cool stuff.  The owners themselves lived nearby, but not connected to the property - their house is also vacant and sort of cool.
The houses near the tennis courts were for employees - there used to be a lot more of them, but they were burned in fire training.
