Here are the lyrics to that ultra-catchy Optimum Online commercial:

Mi gente, Optimum Triple Play is in the house

IO digital cable
Watch a lot of channels whenever you're able
HD is free baby put it on the table
For $29.95 you get to sign the label

877 393 4448

Optimum online so fast so fine
Dialup and DSL you gonna leave it behind
Come on mi gente let's get online
For 29.95 it'll blow your mind

877 393 4448

Optimum voice for your mom or your date
Call all you want from state to state
Puerto Rico and Canada just one flat rate
For $29.95, do I have to translate?

877 393 4448

Remember you can get Optimum Voice world call
Talk with anybody in the world so call

877 393 4448

The savings are for real
The triple play is the deal

I would have just cut the cable. They're trespassing on your tree and no doubt violating regulations about stringing wires over a street.

I had this same type of problem with Comcast on two different occasions at two different houses. At the first house they left a cable running across the ground in my back yard for 3 months. Every time I called they said they would have someone out within 24 hours to bury it, so I locked the dog inside all day and unlocked the back gate, but then when I came home nothing had been done. Finally I called them and told them I had hired a neighborhood 12-year old to mow my lawn and that I was recording the call and giving them verbal notice that if he hit the cable and injured himself they would be liable. It was buried the next day.

A few years later I moved and had the same problem. This time the cable was laying across the back alley driveways for several houses in a row, including mine. Having learned from my previous experience, I called them and said an 8-year old neighbor girl had gotten tangled up in the cable while riding her bicycle and had broken her arm and the parents had asked me for lawyer recommendations. Again the cable was properly buried the next day.

Neither story was true of course, but it took lies about liability issues to get results.
